UK govt, regulators 'not doing enough' on AI risks in finance, lawmakers say

( January 20, 2026, 00:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK government and financial regulators “are not doing enough” to manage the risks posed by the growing use of AI in financial services, a parliamentary committee said on Tuesday, urging stress tests for AI-driven shocks and clearer guidance on consumer protection and accountability. The Treasury Committee also said the government must bring AI firms deemed critical to the financial sector under regulatory oversight by the end of 2026. The government already holds this power under the Critical Third Parties regime but is yet make use of it.Report is attached....
