National courts must provide reason when refusing to request preliminary ruling

( March 24, 2026, 10:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A national court or tribunal of last instance must always give reasons when refusing to refer questions on the application of EU law to the bloc's top court, the Court of Justice said in a ruling on Tuesday. Those reasons include the question being irrelevant, the question having already been answered by the EU court, or the answer being "so obvious as to leave no scope for any reasonable doubt," judges said.Press release is attached.
