EU rules to ease derivative trading collateral open for feedback
( October 29, 2026, 14:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission is seeking feedback on draft rules that would ease collateral requirements for derivatives trades when either trading party falls below a €8 billion activity threshold. The proposal would allow firms to stop collecting initial margin on existing over-the-counter derivatives contracts and release collateral already collected. The aim is to reduce administration and free up collateral for firms whose derivatives activity has become smaller. Feedback is due by Nov. 26. Draft regulation attached.
