US CFTC outlines prediction market rules for framework
By Neil Roland ( June 10, 2026, 21:38 GMT | Insight) -- The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission released draft rules for prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket that would set up a framework for evaluating case by case whether wager contracts are illegal or contrary to the public interest. Other rules are also expected for prediction markets, which have exploded in growth to $25 billion in trading activity in March 2026. Under an evaluation process in the proposal, the CFTC would determine whether an activity involves terrorism, assassination, war, gaming or some other conduct unlawful under federal or state law.
