Bank-specific multiplier to offset Basel III rules put forward by EU Commission

( June 4, 2026, 10:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission on Thursday adopted a legal text allowing banks to use a multiplier to neutralize capital increases under Basel III market risk rules. The text — a “delegated act” in EU jargon — is set to apply for three years, starting in January 2027. The European Parliament and the Council of the EU representing EU governments have three months to oppose it. An additional three-month scrutiny period is allowed if they request it.See attached document....
