US Senate confirms Warsh for Fed chair mostly along party lines

By Neil Roland ( May 13, 2026, 22:16 GMT | Insight) -- Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s nominee to be US Federal Reserve chair, was confirmed by the US Senate by a vote of 54-45, largely along party lines, after a floor debate marked by whether he would remain independent of the president’s encroachments. The only senator to cross party lines was Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman, who voted to confirm.
