UK watchdog clarifies its role in investment-trust voting rules after debate

( March 27, 2026, 17:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Financial Conduct Authority has clarified what stakeholders should expect from its review of UK listing rules for investment trusts, following recent debate over shareholder voting. Interim executive director of markets Simon Walls said there have been calls for the FCA to "get to grips" with voting rules. He said the debate "suggests there are misunderstandings about how investment trusts are governed and where responsibilities sit." He added that voting rights are set by company law, not regulators. In the review, the watchdog said it will look at whether listing‑rule provisions on board independence and related‑party arrangements need updating.Statement follows....
