Legal proposal on multi-issued stablecoins urgently needed, EU lawmaker says

The text, prepared by conservative lawmaker Johan Van Overtveldt, does not oppose allowing such stablecoins but insists on safeguards. It is due to be put to a vote in the full assembly on July 6.The crypto-asset sector sees a new development in the debate over stablecoins in the EU, with a non-binding draft report in the European Parliament calling for a legislative proposal to provide legal certainty on the issuance of stablecoins by both an EU entity and a non-EU entity, or multi-issued stablecoins....
