UK financial regulator bans, fines on adviser and fund manager upheld by court

( February 18, 2026, 12:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Bans and fines imposed on Stephen Joseph Burdett and James Paul Goodchild by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority have been upheld by the country's Upper Tribunal. The pair, who held senior roles at Synergy Wealth Limited and Westbury Private Clients LLP respectively, were banned from working in financial services "for recklessly exposing pension holders to unsuitable investments". The tribunal also found that it was appropriate for the FCA to impose penalties of £265,071 on Burdett and £47,600 on Goodchild.The Upper Tribunal has upheld the FCA's decisions to ban Stephen Joseph Burdett and James Paul Goodchild from working in financial services....
