UK regulators crack down on suspect car-finance claims practices

( October 6, 2025, 10:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A group of UK regulators has joined forces in an attempt to tackle the “inadequate information” provided by some Claims Management Companies and law firms that work on car-finance claims. The group comprises the Financial Conduct Authority, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office and the Advertising Standards Authority. The FCA and SRA are closely scrutinizing CMCs and law firms’ exit policies. The ICO has received more than 230,000 complaints regarding unsolicited and unlawful direct marketing practices linked to car-finance claims, and is considering further regulatory action.Statement follows....
