UK financial sector consulted on payment regulator's consolidation into FCA

( September 8, 2025, 11:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK's finance ministry is seeking feedback on its plan to consolidate the UK Payment Systems Regulator into the Financial Conduct Authority. The government said in the consultation released Monday that it considers the FCA to be best placed to take on the role of payments regulator given its "deep experience of regulating financial services" and "close operational ties with the PSR." Industry can provide feedback by Oct. 20. The government had already announced its consolidation plan earlier this year when it pledged to support growth and minimize overlaps between regulators’ responsibilities.  FCA statement follows, government consultation is attached....
