Thailand pilots TouristDigiPay scheme to convert crypto into baht for local use

Operated via licensed digital asset platforms and e-money providers regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission and Bank of Thailand, the scheme facilitates QR-based payments through e-money without treating crypto as a legal means of payment. Spending is capped at 50,000 baht ($1,535) per month for small merchants and 500,000 baht for larger merchants.
