UK financial ombudsman seeks input to change case fees

( August 13, 2025, 09:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK Financial Ombudsman Service plans to charge businesses less for complaints which are resolved at an earlier stage. UK financial firms currently pay a fixed fee of 650 pounds for every case against them, regardless of the stage at which the dispute is resolved. The FOS is now proposing to differentiate businesses’ case fees based on the stage at which a case is resolved. Complaints that are closed later in the process require more work and therefore cost more, the financial ombudsman said.
