Fifteen European banks win case on 2020 payments to EU bailout fund

( August 11, 2025, 10:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Fifteen European banks, including Unicredit, Crédit Agricole, BNP Paribas and Deutsche Kreditbank, will not have to make the 2020 contributions to the EU's bailout fund as planned following a court ruling today on how the payments were calculated. The EU's lower-tier General Court annulled the Single Resolution Board's calculation of the payments and also dismissed private bank Sutor's action arguing that client funds had incorrectly been included in the calculation. The SRB is due to issue a new calculation of the payments within six months. Orders attached.
