UK lenders asked for views on plan to simplify mortgage modelling

( July 31, 2025, 09:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A proposal to simply mortgage modelling, aimed at boosting competition in the market, has been published for consultation by the Bank of England’s regulatory arm today. The Prudential Regulation Authority said it is considering allowing firms to use its own values for potential loss, instead of requiring them to estimate their own, which will save time and resources, making it easier for mid-sized firms. The PRA has asked for feedback on which firms the option should be made available to and if it should look beyond residential mortgages and toward other retail exposures. The regulator said it is not committed to any specific option at this stage. Document attached. ...
