Nine EU countries urged to fully implement bank resolution rules

( July 17, 2025, 11:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has urged Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Austria, Poland and Sweden to fully transpose EU bank resolution rules into national law. The rules refer to certain aspects of the minimum requirement for own funds and eligible liabilities, or MREL. Member States had to transpose it into national law by Nov. 13, 2024. If the nine countries fail to act within two months, the commission may refer them to the EU's highest court.Statement follows. ...
