US Fed’s bank-friendly oversight plan includes sweeping capital rule review

Bowman, the Fed’s top banking regulator since her confirmation by the Republican-controlled Senate last week, said big-bank rulemaking too often takes a “piecemeal approach” that reviews elements of the capital framework “in isolation” – a point made by banking groups for years. Her predecessor, Michael Barr, said in 2022 that the Fed was looking “holistically” at its capital tools.
