Lifting retail ban on crypto Exchange Traded Notes proposed by UK FCA

( June 6, 2025, 11:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK Financial Conduct Authority has proposed lifting a ban on offering crypto Exchange Traded Notes — cETNs — to retail investors. The proposal, which will be consulted with the industry, would allow cETNs to be sold to individual consumers, rather than just professional investors if they’re traded on an FCA-approved investment exchange. The watchdog said that similar products are already available in other countries. “This consultation demonstrates our commitment to supporting the growth and competitiveness of the UK’s crypto industry,” said David Geale, the FCA's executive director of payments and digital assets.Statement follows....
