US SEC crypto-regulator Selig tapped to chair CFTC

By Neil Roland ( October 27, 2025, 17:49 GMT | Insight) -- US Securities and Exchange Commission crypto-regulator Mike Selig has been tapped by President Trump to chair the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission.  The appointment was announced by White House AI & cryptocurrency czar David Sacks said on the X social media site. The nomination of Selig, who is chief counsel of the SEC Crypto Task Force as well as a senior advisor to SEC Chair Paul Atkins, has to be confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate. Selig’s appointment comes as Congress weighs different bills dividing responsibilities for crypto oversight between the CFTC and SEC.
