Indonesia to block bank accounts used for online gambling

( July 31, 2025, 06:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Bank accounts used for online gambling transactions will be blocked in Indonesia as part of a collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center. Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid said cutting off access to online gambling sites, which are illegal in the country, was not enough to deter online gamblers. During the nine months to July 28, the ministry has taken down approximately 1.7 million pieces of content related to online gambling.
