Chinese national forfeits GBP16.7 million in suspected criminal cash, properties

( July 24, 2025, 13:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Chinese man has agreed to forfeit 16.7 million pounds worth of London properties and cash in a settlement with the UK’s National Crime Agency. The NCA said it suspects the assets are the proceeds of crime, laundered in the UK having been acquired from unauthorized securities trading in China. Shijie Song failed to provide a reasonable explanation for the source of funds used to purchase a luxury property in London’s Westminster, six further apartments and “substantial” sums of money. The civil recovery does not represent a criminal finding of guilt. Chinese authorities cooperated with the UK investigation.  Statement below. ...
