Banking sector sees key indicators on climate risk published
( April 25, 2025, 14:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Banking Authority, the EU body overseeing the banking sector to support financial stability, today released a monitoring tool on Environmental, Social and Governance-related risk across the EU/EEA banking sector. The tool will provide indicators on the basis of data disclosed by banks on climate-related risk, from a transition and a physical perspective, the EBA said. The indicators also take green financing into account, including the alignment with the EU taxonomy, and a ranking of the environmental performance of economic sectors. The authority said it intends to regularly update these indicators.The European Banking Authority (EBA) today released an ESG dashboard that establishes a broader ESG risks monitoring framework and allows centralized access to comparable climate risk indicators. This dashboard provides benchmarks and enhances the assessment and monitoring of transition and physical climate-related risk across the EU/EEA banking sector.
