Chinese regulator summons online lenders over personal data, marketing practices

( March 13, 2026, 11:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s National Administration of Financial Regulation said on Friday that it had summoned five online lending platforms — Fenqile, a financial services platform targeting young consumers; Qifu Jietiao, a spin-off from cybersecurity company 360 Group; NiWoDai; Credit in Life; and Credit Fly, a consumer finance platform innovating in the air travel sector — to address concerns in the online lending assistance business. The regulator instructed the operators to strictly regulate marketing practices, ensure clear disclosure of interest and fee information and strictly comply with personal information protection laws while working with financial institutions. It also emphasized that the companies should conduct debt collection in full compliance with legal standards, improve customer complaint resolution mechanisms and safeguard the rights and legitimate interests of financial consumers.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
