UK company directors must verify identity within year, starting in November

( August 5, 2025, 09:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK business directors will have to verify their identity during a 12-month transition period, which begins Nov. 18, Companies House confirmed today. The current voluntary plan is being made compulsory as part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. All new directors will need to verify their identity to incorporate a new company or be appointed to an existing company from the date. Over 12 months, all existing directors will have to verify their identities as they file their next annual confirmation statements. Existing people with significant control will also have to undergo verification in the year-long transition.
