The Irish High Court has sent a reference for a preliminary ruling to the Court of Justice of the EU, seeking guidance on the validity of EU-approved model contracts used by social network Facebook to transfer European users' personal information to the US. The dispute stems from a complaint by Max Schrems, an Austrian privacy activist.
