Prediction market Kalshi ordered by US CFTC to keep operating in New York
By Neil Roland ( August 12, 2026, 21:36 GMT | Insight) -- In the latest volley between federal and state governments over who should regulate prediction markets, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission said it ordered Kalshi to keep operating in New York after the state sought to shut it down. The federal regulator said it used its "emergency authority" to require Kalshi, one of the largest prediction markets, to continue operating after Kalshi’s notification of a “market emergency.” Kalshi asked for the CFTC's help following New York State Attorney General Letitia James's lawsuit against the company last month....
