Supreme Court blocks Trump’s attempt to oust US Fed Governor Cook

At the same time, the court gave Trump unrestricted freedom to sack a former Federal Trade Commission member without cause, a ruling that gives the president direct control over dozens of independent agencies. Trump’s August 2025 effort to oust Cook was the first attempted dismissal in the central bank’s 111-year history. He alleged unproven mortgage fraud on a social media site, without an official proceeding.
