TotalEnergies must include emissions from product use in risk plan, French court says

( June 26, 2026, 13:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Paris court ordered French oil and gas giant TotalEnergies to revise its vigilance plan —  for identifying and preventing human rights and environmental risks — within six months to include greenhouse gas emissions generated when customers use its oil and gas products, known as Scope 3 emissions. The court ruled those emissions fall within France's duty of vigilance law and found the company's risk mapping incomplete. A follow-up hearing is scheduled for January 2027.The judgment of the Paris Judicial Court is below (in French)....
