UK lenders see consultation to increase their share of high loan to income lending

( April 1, 2026, 15:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK banks and building societies have been asked for feedback on a proposal to increase shares of high loan to income lending, or LTI. The policy proposal follows a recommendation from the Financial Policy Committee to UK financial regulators to allow individual lenders to increase their share of high LTI lending while aiming to ensure that, in aggregate, lenders' high LTI lending doesn't exceed 15 percent of total lending. The consultation is open until July 1. The FCA said the reforms are part of its wider review of mortgage rules. Statement attached....
