US SEC says it cut up to $94.1 million from 2025 CAT law-enforcement budget

( March 27, 2026, 22:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary:  The US Securities and Exchange Commission said it cut as much as $94.1 million from its 2025 Comprehensive Audit Trail budget by taking continuing steps — but not final measures — in its effort to slash the law-enforcement tool.   “The Commission’s ongoing comprehensive review of the CAT will consider the sustainability of the CAT’s budget, and we expect the Plan Participants that operate the CAT and the industry to work together towards further cost savings,” SEC Chair Paul Atkins said.
