UK's transition finance guidelines, policy requests to government published

( March 26, 2026, 16:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK Transition Finance Council has released a set of guidelines to unlock transition finance, which is understood as the investment needed to help the decarbonization of high-emitting sectors. A dozen financial firms, including Natwest, Standard Chartered, Santander, and Lloyds Banking Group, have begun testing the guidelines. The council is made up of over 80 senior leaders from finance, industry, policy, and civil society. The group also released today policy requests to the government, including clarifying fiduciary duties, strengthening the market for transition labelled instruments, and scaling the use of government-backed guarantees.  Statements are attached....
