EU measures to simplify sustainability reporting, due diligence agreed

( February 24, 2026, 12:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A package of measures to simplify sustainability reporting and due diligence requirements for companies by raising the thresholds for which they apply has been approved by EU ministers and will be published in coming days. The so-called Omnibus I package aims to reduce complexity and unnecessary barriers, cut red tape, enhance efficiency and introduce more flexibility for companies, the Council of the EU said in a statement. It will come into force 20 days after it is published in the EU's Official Journal, then member states will have one year to transpose its provisions into national legislation. Summary of the directive lies below.
