Indonesian financial services authority issues new rule on digital consumer financing

( December 26, 2025, 06:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indonesian Financial Services Authority, or OJK, which oversees the country’s banking and financial services sector, has issued new regulation Number 32 of 2025 on so-called "buy now pay later" consumer financing. Under the new rule, banks and financial services entities that provide such consumer financing are required to secure prior approval from the OJK. The new rule covers general rules, debt collection, reports, data protection and other matters. The financial services regulator said the new rule aims to “provide legal certainty, strengthen governance and risk management, maintain the stability” of the financial-services sector.
