Indonesia regulator intensifies digital-bank oversight

( December 22, 2025, 05:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indonesian Financial Services Authority, or OJK, said Friday that it has set up a new division called the Digital Banking Supervision Directorate, which will begin operating in 2026 as part of efforts to improve oversight of the country’s growing digital-banking sector. The OJK said the country’s digital banking is transforming rapidly and is projected to reach around $360 billion in 2030, which will require the regulator to be more focused on supervision of the sector. Chief Executive of the OJK Banking Supervisor, Dian Ediana Rae, said supervision of digital banks will go beyond financial ratios to ensure the seamless operation of digital-banking services, independence and professionalism of bank managers, as well as digital resilience and security against the risk of cyberattacks.The full statement, in Indonesian, follows:...
