UK car-finance redress plan fails to deliver fairness, FLA says

( December 12, 2025, 16:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK Financial Conduct Authority's plan to compensate car-finance customers who received unfair treatment from lenders is failing to deliver fairness, the Finance & Leasing Association has said. The FLA said that the FCA’s proposals rely on “blunt liability tests that would result in redress being paid to millions of customers who experienced no unfair relationship, or no loss, diverting resources away from those for whom redress is genuinely due.” FCA chief executive Nikhil Rathi said recently that the watchdog was open to adjusting its plans based on the feedback received in the consultation, which closed on Friday.Statement follows....
