UK pause on car-finance complaints handling will lift on May 31

( December 3, 2025, 10:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A pause on handling car-finance complaints in the UK will lift on May 31, 2026 — two months earlier than was originally suggested in a consultation. The Financial Conduct Authority had paused complaint handling in January 2024, when it began to assess whether there'd been adequate disclosure of commissions between car finance lenders and brokers. The FCA said it allows firms sufficient time to respond to complaints, given they should have already been investigating them. The watchdog is also looking to establish a compensation plan for aggrieved customers early in 2026, and said it would consider how the plan interacts with the end of the complaint-handling pause.Statement follows....
