Van Peteghem, Pierrakakis apply for Eurogroup presidency

( December 1, 2025, 09:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Vincent Van Peteghem have submitted their candidacies for the presidency of the Eurogroup — the informal meetings of eurozone finance ministers. Pierrakakis is Greece’s finance minister, and Van Peteghem is Belgium’s deputy prime minister and budget minister. The role became vacant following Paschal Donohoe’s resignation in November. The finance ministers will elect the new president by simple majority at their next meeting on Dec. 11. The successful candidate will serve a two-and-a-half-year term, which may be renewed.Press release follows....
