EU commission mishandled urgent sustainability simplification rules, Ombudswoman says

She highlighted failures to justify the urgency, a lack of transparency about deviations from rules on law making, known as Better Regulation, and an unusually short interservice consultation of under 24 hours over a weekend. She urged the commission to ensure future urgent procedures remain evidence-based, transparent and adhere to minimum procedural standards as Better Regulation rules are revised.Statement follows.
