UK will exempt securities financing transactions from T+1 move, govt confirms

( November 20, 2025, 10:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK government has confirmed that securities financing transactions, or SFTs, will be excluded from the move to one-day trade settlement cycle, or T+1. In a draft statutory instrument published on Thursday, the government confirmed that the move to the accelerated trade settlement cycle will take place on Oct. 11, 2027, but that it will exclude SFTs due to their complexity. These include securities or commodities lending, securities or commodities borrowing, buy-sell back transactions, sell-buy back transactions, and repurchase transactions. The government’s draft text is open to feedback until Feb. 27 next year.Statements are attached....
