EU equivalence regime needed to allow foreign multi-issued stablecoin, ESRB says

The EU body responsible for preventing systemic risk in the bloc’s financial system asked the European Commission to clarify that foreign multi-issued stablecoins are not allowed under current rules. The ESRB also recommends that the commission introduce a legal framework for assessing the equivalence of foreign legal regimes with the EU regime. The European Systemic Risk Board voiced concerns on Monday regarding the “materiality of the threats” that EU and non-EU multi-issued stablecoins pose to the bloc’s financial stability....
