UK banks resilient despite high risks from geopolitical tensions, BOE committee says

( October 8, 2025, 09:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK banks would be able to support Britain's households and businesses even under "substantially worse" economic conditions than expected, the Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee has said, according to a record of its latest meeting, released on Wednesday. The committee monitors, identifies and addresses risks in the UK financial system. At its Oct. 2 meeting it found that risks from geopolitical tensions and global fragmentation of trade are still high. A survey of market participants released at the same time found that cyberattack and geopolitical risks remain the two most frequently cited sources of risks and are the most challenging to manage.
