South Korea's Lotte Card faces PIPC probe into potential wider personal-data exposure

( September 22, 2025, 07:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lotte Card is under investigation by South Korea’s privacy watchdog after reporting a customer credit-information leak to financial authorities on Sept. 19. The Personal Information Protection Commission said it opened the probe on Sept. 22 after receiving the report from the Financial Supervisory Service, which is legally required to forward such notifications. The regulator will look into whether data beyond credit information was exposed and assess possible breaches of the Personal Information Protection Act.
