South Korean financial regulator briefs presidential committee on national fund plan, AI push

The Financial Services Commission outlined a plan to mobilize over 100 trillion won (about $72.5 billion) through a “national fund” to support strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, in line with the government’s goal of becoming one of the world’s top three AI powers. It also discussed financial-sector measures included in the second supplementary budget, with a focus on easing debt burdens for small businesses and self-employed workers. Other topics included improving capital market trust, consumer protection and financing for green energy.
