UK watchdog to scrutinize own mistakes over ‘name and shame’ policy climbdown

( June 18, 2025, 07:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK’s financial markets watchdog will undertake a “lessons learned” exercise over its attempt to change its policy on publicizing investigations. In a communication with lawmakers, the Financial Conduct Authority acknowledged that it should have done more pre-announcement engagement on the controversial policy and could have set its intentions out more clearly in its original consultation. The FCA ultimately scrapped the plan to start naming more regulated firms that come under investigation.
