Finland's HMD Global on track to receiving Huawei, Qualcomm license details

Burkhardt of the Southern District of California recommended that US District Judge Cynthia Bashant grant HMD Global Oy’s application under 28 U.S.C. § 1782 for discovery for use in a foreign proceeding in connection with Huawei’s 2020 settlement with Qualcomm. HMD says it needs details on the Qualcomm license to bolster a Frand defense in Germany to Huawei's allegations of patent infringement, as well as to establish that Huawei's German litigation is barred by the doctrine of patent exhaustion.See attached document....
