Geale appointed to lead UK FCA’s work on payments, crypto

( May 8, 2025, 10:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: David Geale, the current interim head of the UK’s Payment Systems Regulator, has been appointed permanent executive director for payments and digital finance at the Financial Conduct Authority. This role will see him in charge of the FCA’s work on cryptoassets. Geale has also been handed the role of managing director of the PSR on a permanent basis. In March, the government said it would abolish the PSR and fold most of its functions into the FCA — a process expected to take a couple of years.Statement below....
