Trump directs US FTC, DOJ to crack down on anticompetitive practices in ticketing

( March 31, 2025, 18:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US President Donald Trump issued an executive order directing the US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission to ensure that competition laws are appropriately enforced in the concert and entertainment industry, including where venues and ticketing agents operate to the detriment of artists and fans. He directed the FTC to rigorously enforce the Better Online Tickets Sales Act and collaborate with state attorneys general or other state consumer protection officers on enforcement of the law. FTC should also take appropriate action, including proposing regulations if necessary, to ensure price transparency at all stages of the ticket-purchase process, including the secondary ticketing market and prevent unfair, deceptive, and anti-competitive conduct.Statement follows below:...
