Platforms must tackle illegal 'finfluencers' more proactively, UK regulator says

Lucy Castledine singled out Meta as particularly slow to respond to requests to remove accounts belonging to suspected illegal “finfluencers” in a hearing in Parliament's Treasury Committee. The Financial Conduct Authority official urged platforms to use their technology to learn from and identify illegal content, "otherwise we will be in a continual whack-a-mole."Social-media platforms were called out by the UK financial services watchdog today, with a senior official pressing for them to be more proactive in taking down illegal content online....
