No significant progress on EU bank crisis management law; talks to resume May 22

By Fanny Roux ( April 29, 2025, 16:16 GMT | Insight) -- EU lawmakers and governments didn't reach any breakthroughs during a negotiating meeting on the Crisis Management and Deposit Insurance framework on April 28 in Brussels. The legal texts under discussion aim to improve the resolution process for small and medium-sized banks. Both EU bodies must agree on a final text before it can become law. The next negotiation meeting is scheduled for May 22.The Council of the EU, representing EU member states, and the European Parliament failed to make any significant progress during their sixth negotiating meeting on the Crisis Management and Deposit Insurance framework on April 28 in Brussels.
