US judge says Trump wants CFPB shut down quickly

By Neil Roland ( March 31, 2025, 23:38 GMT | Insight) -- The federal judge who temporarily blocked the Trump administration from dismantling the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says Trump himself wants the agency closed fast. After reviewing hundreds of pages of documents, US District Judge for DC Amy Berman Jackson said Friday that “the defendants are still engaged in an effort to implement a presidential plan to shut the agency down entirely and to do it fast.” Without a preliminary injunction to freeze the status quo, she said, “there is a substantial risk that the defendants will complete the destruction of the agency completely in violation of law…and it will be impossible to rebuild.”  The federal judge who temporarily blocked the Trump administration from dismantling the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says Trump himself wants the agency closed fast....
